Wayne Winegarden, PhD, a senior fellow in business and economics at Pacific Research Institute, talks about what kind of educational material still needs to be created and which stakeholders are in need of education on the financial benefits of biosimilars.
The Center for Biosimilars® interviewed Wayne Winegarden, PhD, a senior fellow in business and economics at Pacific Research Institute (PRI) and director of PRI’s Center for Medical Economics and Innovation.
Winegarden said that patients need to be educated on the financial benefits of biosimilars because this can promote adherence and produce better clinical outcomes. He stressed that the costs that patients have to pay can’t be ignored and clinicians need to be aware so that they can prescribe the lowest-cost option for the patient.
